Role Summary

We are seeking a reliable, proactive and skilled Maintenance Officer to join our expanding Property and Maintenance team.

The Maintenance Officer is responsible for ensuring that buildings, grounds, infrastructure and equipment across our supported accommodation properties are maintained to a safe, functional and presentable standard.

This is a varied, hands-on role requiring an individual who can work independently, demonstrate sound judgement, think critically and effectively manage multiple tasks across different locations.

The successful candidate will have a positive, can-do attitude, strong problem-solving abilities and the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Undertake general building maintenance and repairs, including furniture, doors, locks, curtains, fixtures, fittings, sinks, toilets and other building equipment
  • Perform general handyman duties, painting, patching, gardening and property presentation works
  • Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance, routine property inspections and urgent reactive repairs
  • Identify maintenance issues, assess their urgency and implement practical, safe and cost-effective solutions
  • Assist with property vacates, repairs and preparation of properties for new occupants
  • If required, assist with the moving, loading, unloading and transportation of furniture, equipment and other items between properties, following safe manual handling practices
  • Collect, transport and deliver building materials, maintenance supplies and equipment as required
  • Assist with the delivery of chemicals, replenishment of chemical bottles and maintaining adequate stock levels
  • Conduct property inspections and proactively identify maintenance requirements and potential safety hazards
  • Respond effectively to urgent maintenance requests while managing existing scheduled responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate records of completed works, outstanding maintenance tasks and job updates through the organisation's maintenance management system.
  • Liaise with internal staff, contractors and relevant stakeholders to coordinate maintenance activities
  • Ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with relevant workplace health and safety requirements
  • Undertake other reasonable maintenance and property-related duties as required

Skills, Attributes and Experience

  • Current valid driver's licence.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • A positive, proactive and solutions-focused attitude towards workload and daily responsibilities
  • Strong work ethic, reliability and accountability
  • Relevant trade certificate or qualification
  • Previous experience in aged care, disability accommodation or similar residential environment

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a dependable, self-motivated and adaptable Maintenance Officer who takes ownership of their work and approaches challenges with a positive and practical mindset.

The successful candidate will understand that maintenance is a dynamic environment where priorities can change throughout the day. They must be comfortable balancing planned works with urgent requests, making informed decisions and adjusting their schedule to meet operational requirements.

We particularly value individuals who demonstrate initiative, identify solutions rather than simply reporting problems, and are willing to support the team across a broad range of maintenance and property-related activities.

A positive attitude, strong problem-solving skills, flexibility and the ability to effectively manage competing priorities are essential to succeeding in this role.
