Role Summary

As a Disability Support Worker, you will support clients living in St Jude’s accommodation services, building strong, meaningful relationships that empower individuals to live their best lives. You will work closely with each client to understand their goals, strengths and aspirations, providing tailored support within the NDIS framework. In this rewarding role, you will assist individuals with disability and/or psychosocial needs to develop independence, enhance daily living skills, and actively participate in their community. From personal care and household tasks to social and community engagement, your support will help clients achieve greater confidence, choice, and control in their everyday lives.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide hands-on support with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care (toileting, showering, dressing), meal preparation, and household tasks such as cooking and cleaning
  • Deliver individualised support to clients with psychosocial needs
  • Assist clients to attend social outings, community activities, shopping trips, and appointments
  • Liaise with families, guardians, and other key stakeholders as required
  • Promote positive behaviours, skill development, independence, and meaningful learning experiences

Skills, Attributes and Experience

The ideal candidate is passionate about delivering person-centred care that respects and supports each client’s individual choices, goals, and aspirations. You take pride in building genuine, lasting relationships and have the interpersonal skills to connect with a diverse range of people. You will work collaboratively with fellow team members and your Coordinator to ensure high-quality care delivery. This includes maintaining accurate progress notes and documentation, contributing to individualised support plans, and proactively problem-solving any challenges that arise within the home environment.

 

Key Requirements

 

  • Possess or be willing to obtain a NDIS Worker Screening Check and a WA Working with Children Check
  • Proof of Australian working rights (e.g., Passport or valid Visa)
  • Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Experience supporting individuals living with mental health conditions is highly regarded
