Title: Disability Support Worker - Accommodation - Advanced Skills
Role Summary
The role of the Disability Support Worker is to work with clients who reside within accommodations provided by St Jude’s. You will work closely with multiple clients, developing rapport and forming a lasting, meaningful professional relationship with them. You will work within the NDIS funding framework, assisting them to achieve their goals, increase their independence and participation within the community. You will provide support to people with disability and/or psychosocial needs, enabling them to undertake all aspects of daily living.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Providing assistance with ADL’s such as toileting, showering, dressing, cooking and cleaning
- Providing individual support to clients with psychosocial requirements
- Assisting clients with social outings, shopping trips and appointments
- Liaising with the families and representatives of your client as required
- Promoting positive behaviours, learning experiences and skill development
This role is being hired on a permanent part-time basis and works across Rivervale and surrounding suburbs. We are seeking candidates with strong and flexible availability!
Skills, Attributes and Experience
The ideal candidate will pride themselves on their ability to deliver person-centered care that values the choice and goals of the client. They will have the people skills to build and maintain meaningful, lasting relationships with their clients. They will also work closely with their fellow support workers at the house, as well as your coordinator, to maintain accurate progress notes and reports, develop individualised care plans and problem solve for issues that develop within the house.
Key criteria includes:
- Must possess or be willing to obtain a NDIS Worker Screening Check and WA Working with Children Check
- Valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle
- Proof of working rights (passport or valid visa)
Previous experience working with clients who live with mental health issues will be highly regarded
