Title: Maintenance Officer

Role Summary
Our Maintenance Officer provides quality maintenance and gardening services to our charming Midland Nursing Home. In this role, you will be responsible for general and corrective maintenance, repairs and installation such as but not limited to painting, plastering, equipment repairs, installing doors, cupboards/shelves and designing garden layout. In providing these services to the facility, you will play a crucial role in providing comfort to our residents and creating a homely environment for them.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Efficiently procure maintenance services and equipment at a reasonable cost.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements by performing emergency, preventative, and legislative maintenance.
- Take responsibility for inducting, coordinating, and overseeing contractors to ensure safe repairs and maintenance.
- Create a safe, clean, and high-quality home environment that promotes person-cantered care.
- Oversee maintenance and care of the gardens and landscape on-site.
- Carry out maintenance of facility, equipment, buildings, and services.
- Keep accurate records of all chemicals in use and ensure compliance with relevant safety protocols.
- Keep the grounds well-maintained and orderly.
- Identify and address preventative maintenance needs, completing necessary tasks and maintaining scheduled documentation.
- Ensure that preventative and corrective maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with legal requirements and documented in the appropriate registers.
This role is being hired on a permanent full-time basis and is located at the Midland Nursing Home
Skills, Attributes and Experience
We are seeking for someone who has significant maintenance and gardening experience and who feels comfortable and familiar with performing these types of duties. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of facility services/equipment relating to gas, water and power. Most importantly, you will be prepared to go above and beyond to best assist the facility and able to impress the residents with your end product and customer service skills
- Previous experience working within a health/aged care facility is desirable but not essential.
- Ideally, hold a formal trade qualification or practical work experience in carpentry, plumbing and electrical maintenance
- Ability to safely operate maintenance and gardening tools and equipment
- Exhibit a willingness to learn and continuously improve maintenance operations at the facility.
- Possess or willingness to obtain NDIS clearance and police check
- Current WA driver's license
